Yogaversary 26: The Grounded Sessions
Finding Gratitude in the Chaos
Like many of you, I felt the ground shift beneath me in 2025.
For over twenty years, I have built a career as an Engineering Manager. But in early January, the industry I knew convulsed under the rapid changes of AI. I was caught in a round of layoffs, and what followed was eleven months of navigating a silent job market.
To simply call that time “stressful” would be to minimize the weight of it. It was a season of deep uncertainty, where the identity I had built in my career felt suddenly fragile. The digital world was chaotic and unpredictable.
But I found an anchor in the physical world.
Two to four times a week, I returned to my mat. I would breathe. I would move. I would remember that while the world around me was noisy, my center could be quiet.
My practice didn’t fix the job market, but it did something more important: it kept me grounded. It offered me a ritual of gratitude for a body that kept standing, even when the world around me felt unsteady.
Honoring Your Resilience
I know I was not alone in navigating those currents.
Whether you faced professional upheaval, personal grief, or simply the exhaustion of existing in a world that demands your constant performance, you found a way to stand firm. You found a ritual—a moment in the day where you could put down the weight that was pressing down on you.
I am inviting you to document that resilience with The Grounded Sessions.
This is not “fitness photography.” We are not interested in the perfect angle of a limb or the performance of flexibility.
This is a portrait of your practice as a sanctuary. It is about capturing the moment you close your eyes, drop your shoulders, and occupy your own space unapologetically. Whether your ritual is yoga, pilates, dance, or simply sitting in silence on the floor—I want to photograph the shape of your peace.
